This time of year is always busy as we gear up for garden season, but this year is already starting off a bit busier. We elected to redo all our raised garden beds this year. We are not adding any new ones, but we are rebuilding them larger this go around. I landed some White Oak boards for a fair price, so we are working on getting them put together. I grabbed a cigar from a company that is completely new to me - Ohana Nui Cigars. Ohana Nui Cigars is the combination of Ohana Cigars and 262 Cigars. This review is of the Revere, from 262 Cigars.

This very firmly packed cigar sports a dark, leathery wrapper leaf. The cigar is light and very firmly packed. I like the simplicity of the band on this cigar, yet it does look a touch “catalog brandish”. The cold draw is a faint raisiny earth. The cigar smells quite leathery. First light brings about lots of medium-full bodied and flavored smoke. There’s a gritty earthiness right off the bat, along with black pepper, wood, and subtle molasses. Midway into the first third the profile is much the same with the addition of some oily citrus to the wood. The retrohale shows earth and pepper spice with a hint of black cherry. Into the second third the performance has been perfect thus far. The profile is starting to shift towards some toast, baking spice, and brown sugar on the draw with the retrohale remaining the same. Entering the final third the molasses is reappearing on the draw. The baking spices are still present along with some of the oily citrus. The retrohale has a bit of musty earth and the black cherry has faded to more of a general dark fruitiness. Coming to an end at an hour and 18 minutes there really are no flavor or performance issues to report.
Overall Experience
Overall this was a pretty solid cigar. It was medium-full in flavor and body throughout, maybe peaking at medium strength. The profile had a nice mix of earth, wood, pepper, baking spice, sweetness, and citrus throughout that kept things fairly interesting. For an introduction to the brand, I would say that this is a worthy option. I think it would fit the bill for smokers who lean towards Nicaraguan tobaccos with profiles on the fuller side.
