The Paper Crane is the newest Limited Edition release from Oveja Negra Brands’ Black Works Studio portfolio. This cigar features the unique Desflorado wrapper leaf - a leaf owner James Brown has admired. I am always happy to try Connecticut Shade cigars blended by James, as they always seem to hit my palate well. Available in a 6 x 48 Toro and a 5 x 46 Corona, this review will be of the latter. The Brothers of the Sabre line was born out of Jeremy Casdagli’s fascination with Napoleon’s attempt to conquer Europe. This line pays homage to the generals on all sides and the blends are intended to be representative of the character of whom they honor. This Forrader line was named after Prussia’s Gebhard Leberecht von Blucher and is touted as having “deceptive strength”. The Black Star Line Cigars Mr. Fahrenheit is crafted at Tabacalera Isla in the Dominican Republic. A portion of the proceeds from each Mr. Fahrenheit sale goes to Ignite The Spirit, a Chicago firefighter charity. Aric Bey, creator of Black Star Line cigars, is a Chicago firefighter by trade and an avid cigar enthusiast. Mr. Fahrenheit perfectly bridges these two aspects of his life. Released in fall of 2023, Metapa pays homage to Ruben Dario, a famed Nicaraguan Poet. Early this year it was announced the line would be rebranded to Aksum, named after the resting place of the Ark of the Covenant. To be honest, I do not fully understand the decision to rebrand the line, especially to something that seems unrelated (though I am not educated on the subject). Segovias De Esteli may seem like a new arrival to the cigar scene. By that name, they are, however the cigars and the factory have been around for longer. You may recognize the band and the blend as Antigua Esteli. After an issue that resulted in a rebrand, Segovias De Esteli is back with their Maduro and Habano lines!
