Cigar Basics - Part 1: Seed to Factory

Cigar Basics - Part 1: Seed to Factory

Hi! My name is Trevor. As soon as I was given the opportunity to bring cigar content to Whiskey & Whitetails, I began making a list of ideas. Though there will be reviews, I want to bring more to the table. I want to provide a place for new smokers to learn and seasoned smokers to grow. A place for information, experiments, opportunities for involvement, and of course, opinions. The best place to begin with these ideas is with the basics. This article is going to introduce terms commonly used in the cigar world, as well as information you will...

Archery Sessions: ATL Cigar Co Magic Sublime

Archery Sessions: ATL Cigar Co Magic Sublime

I guess ATL Cigar Co is on my mind after the big news of their combining forces with Luciano Cigars. I have a couple ATL Cigars left to try so I reached for the Magic. Last time I tried reviewing a cigar from the Luciano Cigar Factory while hunting I had success. I figured I ought to try again. I’m hunting off the ground instead of the saddle this time because some hunting pressure kept me out of the area I planned on going and the trees where I ended up have lost all their foliage. It’s unseasonably warm and...

Yardwork Sessions: Casa Cuevas Cigars Reserva Maduro Toro

Yardwork Sessions: Casa Cuevas Cigars Reserva Maduro Toro

Though the company Casa Cuevas Cigars has only been around since 2016, the Cuevas family has a storied history in cigars and tobacco. Casa Cuevas Cigars is also not the first go for the family at a cigar company. In the early 2000s Luis Cuevas Sr. was selling cigars under the name Cuevas Habanos. In 2019 the blends sold back then joined the Casa Cuevas Cigars portfolio under the Reserva name. Today I am going to be smoking the Reserva Maduro Toro while I take care of the chicken coop and mow for the first time in a little over...

Vitola Battle: Caldwell Cigar Co Anastasia (2022)

The Anastasia line from Caldwell Cigar Co. dates back to 2016. That first iteration, and all subsequent iterations, had undisclosed blends and featured Princess Anastasia on the primary band. The difference lies in the factories of production and the secondary band colors. Today I am reviewing the newest edition of Anastasia, which sports a yellow secondary band. Unlike the first edition, this 2022 Anastasia comes from an undisclosed factory in an undisclosed country (however, there has been some speculation on the factory and company).  The first Anastasia (green secondary band) was a miss for me back when I smoked it....

Lampert Cigars Family Reserve 2021 Review

Lampert Cigars Family Reserve 2021 Review

I had been thinking about this Lampert Cigars Family Reserve 2021 for most of the day and figured I ought to review it while I did some things around the house and garage. This cigar is a very limited release of only 600 boxes and is Lampert’s first release from the Kelner Boutique Factory. I was very intrigued by this release upon its debut as I love all things Lampert, and have been pleased by the cigars I have had that come out of KBF. Also worth noting for this cigar is that the boxes are crafted from sustainably sourced...
