Woodworking Sessions: Plasencia Cigars Cosecha 149 Santa Fe

Woodworking Sessions: Plasencia Cigars Cosecha 149 Santa Fe

I’m back in the garage continuing my work on this guitar neck made from the staves of a reclaimed whiskey barrel. Today I need to radius the fretboard to 9.5”, touch up the fret slot and string nut depths, and install the side dots. If I have time then, I need to do some sanding around the body sides before I roundover the edges. Won’t be long and both the neck and body will be ready for some finishing work! I grabbed a Plasencia Cigars Cosecha 149 to smoke while I work. This cigar is significant in that the tobaccos...

Woodworking Sessions: Apostate Cigars The Deseret

Woodworking Sessions: Apostate Cigars The Deseret

I’ve mentioned in a previous Woodworking Sessions review about the whiskey barrel guitar I am building for Whiskey & Whitetails. This morning I am getting into rough cutting the neck, shaping the headstock, and cutting fret slots. This neck has been an interesting build since it was built from 3 barrel staves laminated together. It is not the easiest material to work with given each stave had unique contours and dimensions. Standard & Twain Blind Tasting: March ‘22

You can check out my spiel on what Standard & Twain is, what you get, and how awesome it is here. Use the code “Whiskey” at checkout and you will receive a free cigar with your first order!  This month I received an interesting box pressed double figurado and a rustic looking toro. It’s a very firm and heavy cigar. It looks like it’s either a...

A.C.E Prime Cigars The Sergeant Review

A.C.E Prime Cigars The Sergeant Review

For those unfamiliar, the PCA (Premium Cigar Association) Show is a yearly trade show that is attended by many cigar companies, retailers, and media personnel. From the A.C.E Prime Cigars Webpage, The Sergeant “pays homage to the military ‘dedicated to the heroes who fight in anonymity, the ones who self sacrifice out of deep rooted honor, regardless of recognition or acclaim.’” Typically these exclusive releases do not catch my attention or pique my interest enough...

Pairing Experience: Illusione ECCJ 25th & Old Forester 1920

Pairing Experience: Illusione ECCJ 25th & Old Forester 1920

A bit ago I put out an article called Pairing Cigars & Whiskey that went into my thoughts and methods for pairings. For my first Pairing Experience, I elected to go with a cigar that I am quite fond of and a bourbon I have actually never had before. Due to my inexperience with the bourbon, I went with a cigar I have found to be a good pairer with higher proof whiskey.  Illusione ECCJ 25th Robusto Extra This cigar pays tribute to the 25th anniversary of Cigar Journal, previously named European Cigar Cult Journal. This is the third ECCJ...
