Casa Cuevas Cigars Sangre Nueva Robusto Review

Casa Cuevas Cigars Sangre Nueva Robusto Review

Translating to “new blood”, the Sangre Nueva from Casa Cuevas Cigars is the brainchild of the fifth generation of the Cuevas tobacco family, Alec Cuevas. It represents not only the “new blood” in the industry, but also features a new leaf for a Casa Cuevas blend - a Ecuadorian Cameroon wrapper. This cigar has garnered much attention in the cigar world, and had my attention upon announcement. I am very interested in what Alec Cuevas has put together with this cigar.  Country of Origin: Dominican Republic Factory: Tabacalera Las Lavas Wrapper: Ecuadorian Cameroon Binder: Honduran Corojo Filler: Nicaragua, Dominican Republic,...

Housework Sessions: Casa 1910 Revolutionary Edition Cuchillo Parado

I have got some work to do this afternoon and didn’t plan on doing a review, just casual smoking. The cigars in the line are limited with various numbers released of each blend.  Today’s review is a spinoff of maybe my favorite regular production cigar in...

Understanding Cigar Strength

Understanding Cigar Strength

When cigars are described there are three terms that are most commonly used - flavor, body, and strength. Some of these were discussed in my Cigar Basics - Part 3: Shop to Smoke article, however I will quickly explain each here. Flavor: This one is obvious. This describes the flavors you get from smoking the cigar, as well as the level of flavor. Body: This describes the smoke delivered by the cigar. This includes the sensation and texture of the smoke as well as how it coats your mouth.  Strength: This describes the nicotine level in the cigar. The more...
