Vitola Battle: Despot Cigars Series J

Vitola Battle: Despot Cigars Series J

Despot Cigars were launched in 2019 by a pair of Serbian brothers who are the second generation in the cigar industry. Their father has been in the business since 2004 and, according to their website, “launched the cigar scene in Serbia”. Their portfolio consists of the Series J (Green Band), and Series U (Black Band). My understanding is that both will be offered in 4 vitolas, and both are made in Esteli, Nicaragua. Despot Cigars caught my attention a little before their introduction to the American market. I’m always intrigued by new companies, but I was also very intrigued by...

Companion de Warped Review

Companion de Warped Review

Last year marked the first Warped Cigars release out of the Dominican Republic - the Chinchalle. The end of 2021 saw the second release from the same factory, Tabacalera La Isla, with the Companion de Warped. You can check out my spiel on what Standard & Twain is, what you get, and how awesome it is here. Use the code “Whiskey” at checkout and you will receive a free cigar with your first order!  This is my fifth month with this subscription and I have to say that I continue to be pleased month to month. I haven’t loved every cigar that I have received, but that’s kind of the point. You can’t possibly like everything you try, but you have to try different things to better understand what you do enjoy. The biggest concerns for...

El Politico Review

El Politico Review

The PCA, Premium Cigar Association, is a leading trade association in premium tobacco. They are a retail association that advocates for, provides services to, and educates businesses operating in the premium tobacco space. El Politico was a cigar created by PCA Deputy Director Joshua Habursky. El Politico was originally created by Luciano Meirellas as a personal blend for Joshua. However, the cigar is now becoming more readily available and is looking to give back to the industry. For each cigar sold, 50 cents of the proceeds go back to PCA.  Country of Origin: Nicaragua Factory: Tabacalera Pichardo Wrapper: High Priming...
