Barn Work Sessions: A.C.E. Prime Fiat Lux by Luciano Intuitions

Barn Work Sessions: A.C.E. Prime Fiat Lux by Luciano Intuitions

I reworked the pig’s pen in the barn going into fall. When we first got them, I built a house in their pen that we could flip the top open on and fill it with straw in the winter for warmth. They had outgrown that house and it was just wasting space so I got rid of it and re-sectioned off their area. Well, winter is upon us here and sub-freezing temperatures are coming more often and staying longer. So I need to partially close in the part of the pen they sleep in so it can retain more heat...

HVC Cigars Black Friday 2021 Review

HVC Cigars Black Friday 2021 Review

HVC Cigars began the yearly Black Friday releases in 2015 to celebrate the Shopping “Holiday”. The Black Friday cigars change each year in vitola, blend, price, and production quantity. I have been anxious to try this blend because of the use of the Sancti Spiritus wrapper, the Cuban 109 cap, and because I have not tried this Monster in the original form, skinny forms, or pudgy forms. This is also a Monster I do not...

Science & Behavior of Whitetail Scrapes

Cover photo courtesy of grandviewoutdoors.com If you hunt whitetails, it should be no secret to you that whitetails communicate through scent they leave behind. Whether detecting danger, bucks seeking a breeding doe or a doe locating a hiding fawn, whitetail deer use scent for much of their survival and social interaction. Scraping behavior of whitetails, is one of the CHIEF ways whitetail bucks leave scent behind throughout the year. Bucks work scrape’s overhanging branches, called a licking branch, throughout the year, often times more than they work the scrape itself. But their most aggressive scraping of these areas occur from October...
